1,000+ Cambridge & MOET teachers elevate their expertise at Training Week – ready to excel in the new school year
To welcome the 2025–2026 academic year, Vietnam Australia International School (VAS) hosted the largest annual professional training week, gathering more than 1,000 teachers across both Cambridge and National (MOET) programmes.
This intensive training programme held every year before the new school term aims to enhance teachers’ expertise, digital skills, and mastery of modern teaching methodologies across the entire system.
This year, VAS partnered with British Council, Oxford University Press, and Cambridge to deliver in-depth workshops, provide the latest academic resources, and share best teaching practices from leading international experts.
In addition to curriculum-focused content aligned with each grade level and programme, teachers also received AI training and hands-on experience with cutting-edge tools such as MS Teams, SharePoint, iPads, Smart Boards, Data Science Essentials for AI, 3D design with OnShape, and cross-disciplinary project implementation via the Design Thinking Lab, all designed to spark creativity and increase classroom engagement.
Ms. Eloise Martin, Academic Director of the Cambridge Programme at VAS, shared: “Investing in teacher professional development is VAS’s commitment to building a creative, high-quality, and human-centered learning environment. Developing teachers is an investment in the future of our students. Through this training week, we aim to equip teachers with innovative, student-centered approaches to ensure both academic achievement and holistic development.”
Key training highlights by grade level:
- Kindergarten: Updated curriculum integrating modern teaching approaches; focus on holistic development — intellectual, emotional, and social skills; training on food safety and emergency response; enhanced expertise in play-based education, using technology and AI to create personalized, creative lessons.
- Primary: Innovative teaching methods promoting critical thinking, collaboration, and practical application; training on technology integration using MacBooks to design dynamic, personalized, and interactive lessons; classroom safety and management workshops. The “AI in Action: Prompt-Writing Skills” session was highly praised for supporting creative lesson planning.
- Secondary: Advanced training in language-teaching skills such as CAPi English, AI Listening Skills, and Text Analysis Skills, alongside modern methodologies including STEM Projects, Active Learning, and Design Thinking. Sessions on real classroom scenarios and professional problem-solving further strengthened teachers’ classroom management and student support capabilities.
With this thorough preparation, VAS is fully ready to welcome over 8,000 students back to school, confident to embrace an exciting new academic year filled with innovation and creativity.
