When Dad Is the Interviewee: A Heartwarming Conversation Between Muay Thai Champion Nguyễn Trần Duy Nhất and His Daughter

Not the punches thrown in the ring or the prestigious medals he has won, what World Muay Thai Champion Nguyễn Trần Duy Nhất hopes to pass on to his daughter, An Nhiên, is the resilience to face challenges and the confidence to pursue the path she chooses for herself. 

In the first episode of the podcast series “Dreams Unlocked” produced by Vietnam Australia International School (VAS), audiences were treated to a heartwarming and emotional conversation between father and daughter, as fifth-grader An Nhiên stepped into the role of interviewer for the first time, while Duy Nhất opened up about his thoughts and feelings with an honesty he had never before shared with his daughter.

Through An Nhiên’s innocent questions and Duy Nhất’s heartfelt reflections on accompanying his daughter to competitions and the values he hopes to pass on to her, the podcast offers more than an intimate glimpse into a family deeply connected to martial arts. It also invites reflection on how children can be nurtured to develop resilience, perseverance, and the courage to forge their own path as they grow.

Nguyễn Trần Duy Nhất is widely regarded as one of the icons of Vietnamese Muay Thai. Nicknamed the “Undefeated Warrior,” he has won nine world championship titles, earned four medals at the Southeast Asian Games, and achieved numerous other accolades on the international stage. In 2024, he joined the television show Call Me by Fire Vietnam (Anh Trai Vượt Ngàn Chông Gai), where he left a lasting impression with his down-to-earth personality, perseverance, and determination to continually push beyond his limits.

His two daughters, An Nhiên (Grade 6) and Kim Cương (Grade 3), are currently enrolled at the Sunrise campus of Vietnam Australia International School (VAS), where they have studied since their preschool years.
