Former VAS student Pham Ngoc Khanh - From restaurant management to a dream of musical theatre

Success takes different forms for different people. For former VAS student Pham Ngoc Khanh, success is not only about academic achievement but also about having the courage to pursue a passion and create a meaningful path of one's own.

After completing Grade 9 at VAS, Khanh moved to Montreal, Canada, where she lived and studied for seven years. Building on the strong international academic foundation she had developed at VAS, she graduated in Restaurant Management from LaSalle College, one of North America's largest bilingual English-French educational institutions.

Although she had completed professional training in hospitality, Khanh made the bold decision to return to Vietnam and pursue her long-held passion for musical theatre and performing arts. It was a challenging choice, but one that reflected her determination to follow her aspirations with confidence and commitment.

Her dedication soon led to remarkable opportunities. In 2024, Khanh received a full scholarship to the Places! Broadway Musical Theater Camp, organised by Impact Theatre Saigon, where she had the opportunity to train in a professional musical theatre environment.

She later joined Ovation, a musical theatre project developed by Impact Theatre Saigon, contributing as both a performer and songwriter while gaining valuable experience through major stage productions and artistic collaborations.

Most notably, Khanh was awarded an 80,000 USD scholarship from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA), one of the world's most respected institutions for performing arts education. The scholarship recognises both her artistic potential and her commitment to developing a professional career in musical theatre.

Khanh's journey is a powerful reminder that success does not always follow a predetermined path. Sometimes, the greatest achievement lies in having the courage to redefine one's future and pursue what truly inspires and fulfils us.
