A passion for scientific research and a desire to create meaningful solutions for society have shaped the remarkable educational journey of former VAS student Phan Nguyen Bao Tran.

During her years at VAS, Bao Tran developed a strong interest in environmental sustainability and sought ways to apply science to real-world challenges. Together with her classmate Le Minh Thien An, she conducted a research project titled "Synthesizing Biopolymer Materials from Orange Peels for the Production of Biodegradable Bags."

The project earned Second Prize at the National Science and Engineering Fair and First Prize at the City-level Competition, one of Vietnam's most prestigious academic competitions for secondary school students.

For Bao Tran, these achievements were the result of years of dedication supported by the strong academic foundation she built throughout her 12 years at VAS.

Through the Cambridge bilingual programme, she developed solid subject knowledge while strengthening her analytical thinking, critical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities. These skills enabled her to approach scientific challenges with confidence and creativity.

She also gained valuable experience through interdisciplinary learning projects in Science, Technology, the Arts, and community initiatives, where she developed practical research skills and learned how to transform ideas into meaningful applications.

Equally important were the confidence and presentation skills she cultivated during her time at VAS. These qualities enabled Bao Tran and her teammate to communicate their research effectively and impress the competition judges.

Building on her outstanding academic profile, strong English proficiency, and well-rounded skill set, Bao Tran was awarded a 50% scholarship from the School of Science, Engineering and Technology at RMIT University, where she is pursuing a degree in Psychology.

Bao Tran's story demonstrates how curiosity, perseverance, and a commitment to meaningful learning can open doors to exceptional opportunities. VAS is proud to have been part of her journey and looks forward to seeing her continue making a positive impact through her future academic and professional achievements.
