The diverse extracurricular programmes at VAS contribute to the comprehensive development of students
In addition to the core academic curriculum, which includes the Cambridge International Education programme and the Vietnamese national programme by the Ministry of Education and Training, VAS places great emphasis on rich extracurricular programmes that enable students to develop soft skills and pursue their passions in non-academic fields.
Let's review some activities and competitions that VAS students have participated in during the first half of the 2023-2024 school year.
VAS Talks, a series of inspiring sharing sessions on the theme "Well-becoming: Nurturing Resilience and Happiness," has brought inspiration to over 5,700 VASers from grades 3 to 12. This year, guest speakers including Helly Tống, Dạ Quyên, Ngân Trần, and Mr. Gilles Mahe - Group CEO of XCL Education, shared new perspectives on mindset and the essential skills needed for resilient and happy growth.
"When I grow up" Painting contest: Over 1,300 artworks were submitted for the Elimination Round, with 105 artworks advancing to the Final Round. Each painting encapsulates the bright childhood memories and beautiful future dreams of VASers. The Judges selected 13 outstanding and fitting artworks to be featured in the VAS Calendar 2024, a New Year publication.
"VAS's Got Talent" – a talent search competition: The 8th season's Final Round saw intense competition among over 200 talented contestants, showcasing the best 35 acts across the entire VAS system. The programme attracted over 21,000 online viewers through a livestream on VAS's Facebook fan page, while many parents and students attended in person at the Sala campus to provide direct support.
"VASer on the mic" MC competition: The first season of this MC competition attracted the participation of 120 talented contestants from all primary and secondary levels across the VAS system, who reached the Final Round. The competition served as a valuable platform for contestants to demonstrate their logical thinking, creativity, confidence on stage, and fluent communication skills in both Vietnamese and English.
VAS Community Programme: In the first semester, 24 outstanding project teams from all VAS campuses presented their ideas and implementation plans to secure funding from the Organizing Committee. Among them, the top three projects received a total funding of 60,000,000 VND. This programme not only allows students to contribute positive values to society but also helps them develop various personal skills, such as creative thinking, planning and organization, presentation and persuasion, teamwork, and leadership.
In the second semester, VASers will continue to participate in many exciting and beneficial activities to enhance their thinking abilities, life skills, and further develop their own talents.
