VAS English Speaking Contest 2026: Confidence on the Big Stage

The Final Round of the VAS English Speaking Contest (ESC) 2026 took place from May 12 to  14 at Riverside Campus, featuring many outstanding speeches and debates from contestants  across the VAS System. 

The competition attracted nearly 100 VASers from Grades 1 to 12 

Inspired by the theme “Be the VAS Changeneration: Innovating with Kindness,” this year’s  competition provided students with the opportunity to express their perspectives on kindness,  innovation, and social responsibility through sharp critical thinking and confident, persuasive  English communication skills.

With limited preparation time, teams had to carefully build and present their 

Arguments Teamwork played an important role in defending viewpoints and delivering rebuttals 

Nearly 100 students representing different grade levels from all campuses delivered impressive  performances, winning over the judging panel with their confidence, strong arguments, and  outstanding presentation skills. 

The judging panel, teachers, students, and parents all praised the high quality of this year’s  contestants. The students not only demonstrated excellent language proficiency but also  showcased depth of thought, confidence in expressing personal viewpoints, and the core values  that VAS continuously nurtures.

Returning to this year’s competition, Lam Anh (Grade 4) once again confidently took control of  the stage and defended her viewpoints 

The “Guess the Word” challenge was both exciting and demanding

VAS English Speaking Contest is an annual academic competition for Primary and Secondary  students across the VAS System. To qualify for the Final Round, contestants successfully  advanced through two preliminary stages: the Class Round and the Campus Round. 

ESC serves as a platform where students passionate about public speaking can nurture and  develop their English abilities. With support from experienced teachers, students are able to  strengthen their public speaking and critical thinking skills while building confidence and  composure in front of an audience.
