VAS honored with sustainable community development CSR award for fourth year in a row

This award aims to recognize businesses that actively contribute to the sustainable development of the community through meaningful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs. Businesses shared inspiring CSR stories to participate in the selection process.

This year, under the theme "Sustainable Development and Beyond", VAS, with its story of "20 years of nurturing the green generations", stood out as the sole educational institution among the 40 award recipients.

Established in 2004, VAS has been a pioneer in building and contributing to the standardization of bilingual international education programs in Vietnam. Over nearly 20 years of continuous development and innovation, VAS remains committed to its vision of becoming the "House of Excellence” and the mission of creating sustainable values, aiming for a happier community and a better society.

VAS is the exclusive educational institution to have been honored with the CSR Award for four consecutive years.

VAS CSR Story: 20-year journey nurturing "green generations"

Beyond supporting the community and environmental projects, VAS's CSR story reflects how VAS and the VASers community - comprising students, parents, teachers, and staff - have been striving for sustainable development over almost two decades.

At VAS, education goes beyond the classroom, involving various extracurricular activities, experiential trips, and especially meaningful community and environmental projects initiated by the students themselves.

Through these initiatives, students not only engage in acts of kindness, sharing love, but also gain valuable life lessons, fostering their holistic development. This approach is how VAS instills core values, ensuring that graduating generations become not just outstanding global citizens but also 'green generations,' carrying love and a profound sense of responsibility for the community.

Inspiring students to give and share love

"With just a bit of love and care, we can make the world a better place."

"We are going to Za Hung, bringing love and care with us."

"In some places ASER visited, the poor children did not know how to insert the straws into the milk boxes that they received."

"Seeing the happiness of the people we love and the smiles of the children, that is perhaps the most valuable reward we receive after days of diligent preparation."

"Through the trip, we realized that this is our duty, so we worked together to make a difference for the community."

These are the heartfelt stories of VAS students during the "VAS Community" projects - initiatives where VAS students take action for the community through practical projects designed and implemented by the students themselves. In these projects, teachers and the school are only facilitators and supporters.

Though these are student-led projects, they are well-structured, creative, sustainable, and continue to thrive and develop. Some projects have entered their sixth year, with the previous generation of students graduating, and the new generation continuing to maintain and advance the initiatives.

Notably, not all projects receive funding from the school. Most are initiated by students, who creatively fundraise and sustain activities through various means, such as growing clean vegetables, making and selling cakes and traditional Tet cakes, crafting maps of Vietnam from eco-friendly materials for online auctions; organizing music nights, exchanging and collecting books, toys, study materials, uniforms for charity, offering meals and serving in local eateries for charitable purposes; cleaning public hygiene, planting trees in recycled plastic pots to donate, creating clips, and flyers on environmental protection to spread the green message... Many such meaningful projects are being maintained and carried out by VAS students each year.

VAS students brought joy and light to Za Hung elementary school in Quang Nam by donating books, bookshelves, green trees, and self-assembled solar lamps.

In addition, VASers are inspired about the environment, community, and sustainable development through various programs that VAS has maintained for decades, such as the VAS Talks inspiration-sharing series, 3Rs Projects environmental projects, VAS Green Day Run fundraising and tree planting race...
