Published : 09/12/2016

Dear Parents,

It is our honor to present to you the summary of the Achievements of VAS students in school year 2018-2019

A. CAMBRIDGE PROGRAMME

  1. Cambridge Academic Programme (CAP): Grades 1-8

1,056 students, accounting for 25% of the total student population from grade 1 to grade 8, achieved 3 - 4 golds in English, Mathematics, Science and ICT.

  1. Cambridge English Programme (CEP): Grades 1-8

539 students, accounting for 33% of the total student population from grade 1 to grade 8, achieved high scores of 8.0 and above in English.

  1. Cambridge Primary Checkpoint, Cambridge Secondary Checkpoint, Cambridge International General Certificate for Secondary Education (IGCSE) and Cambridge AS / A Level Certificate Exams in May 2018 and June 2018

In May and June 2018, a total of 820 students from VAS took part in the Cambridge International Standardized Exams, including:

  • Primary Checkpoint
  • Secondary Checkpoint
  • International General Certificate for Secondary Education (IGCSE), and
  • Cambridge International AS / A Level

The above exams are designed for all students learning Cambridge education programmes worldwide. VAS is authorized Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) to organize the exams for its students in Vietnam. However, the entire process of exam papers writing and marking is handled and supervised by CAIE itself. Neither VAS or any school in the world has intervention in this entire process. Therefore, the exams and the results of the exams are completely objective and transparent.

2018 was the very first year VAS had students sitting A Level exam at the BTH campus and our they achieved 100% A*-C in Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science. Results in all subjects were well above world average.

In AS Level, though there are still 2 subjects that were slightly lower than Cambridge’s world average, the other 4 subjects are way higher, including Business, Physics and Computer Science.

In IGCSE, students exceeded the world average for the range scores of A*-C in all subjects, notably Mathematics, which was 20% above world average and Global Perspectives which was 11 % above world average. Overall, our A*-C score range was at 85%, our A*-B score range rose from 59% to a highly commendable 66% in the last year. Respectively, our A*-A score range increased from 32% in 2017 to 36% in 2018.

Especially, some students of Hoang Van Thu campus achieved a highly impressive set of results in their IGCSE Mathematics examinations in October 2018. There were outstanding performances as almost 83% of all students gained an A or A* and 100% achieved B-A*.

For the Secondary Checkpoint Exams, the overall results were equally impressive in all 3 subjects, which exceeded world average. Once again, Mathematics is in the Outstanding category for 2 consecutive years, making VAS one of the top schools for Mathematics in the world. English made significant progress rising to within 0.4 of a point of becoming Outstanding.

Results in our Primary Checkpoint were also relatively good.  Similarly, Mathematics is in the Outstanding category, being a half a point above world average.

Every year, Cambridge look at the results of students who have achieved highly in particular subjects. Once again, we are hugely proud to announce that this year, the following students have achieved remarkable results in their exams.

  • NGO DUC HUY from BTH campus for the Top in Vietnam Award for English as the second language, Cambridge IGCSE.
  • TRAN HIEN DAT from BTH Campus for the High Achievement Award for Computer Science, Cambridge AS Level.
