7 impressive achievements of VAS students in the school year 2020-2021

Despite going through a fluctuating and challenging school year, VAS students still proved their academic competencies with impressive scores in both the Cambridge programme and National Curriculum (MOET). Below are 7 outstanding achievements of VAS students from Primary to Grade 12 in the 2020-2021 school year.

1. 12 VAS Grade 12 students won scholarships worth more than 60 billion VND from 28 leading universities in the US, Australia, Canada, Switzerland... Especially, Can Vu Binh Minh, a 12th grader from Sunrise campus was approved by 14 over 15 universities in the US that he had applied to and received scholarships from 10 of them with a total value of 19.6 billion for 4 years.

2. 85% of VAS students in Grade 10 scored Fair to Excellent (C-A*) at the IGCSE exam. The percentage of VAS students achieving Good to Excellent scores (B-A*) is 25% higher than that in 2019 (66% vs 41%), and the rate for A-A* scores is 47%. Across VAS system, there were 38 students scoring A-A* in all subjects. This is the highest IGCSE result in VAS history for the B-A* and A-A* ranks.

Especially, Tran Khanh Linh, a student of class 12B6, Ba Thang Hai campus has excellently won 4 A-A* points for all 4 subjects including Math, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the A Level exam. Last June, Khanh Linh also won 3 scholarships to study abroad at 3 prestigious universities in the US (Depauw University, Beloit College and New York University) with a total value of nearly 13 billion VND for 4 years.

VAS students’ scores in the Primay and Secondary Cambridge exams are higher than the world average

5. 100% of VAS students taking the Primary and Secondary Checkpoint exams scored Fair to Excellent in all subjects, 34 Primary and 37 Secondary students of those gained Perfect scores (5.0 – 6.0). The average scores of VAS students in all subjects are equivalent to or higher than CAIE’s world average.

6. 100% of VAS 12th graders passed the graduation exam, with 99.6% of them ranked Fair or better. 62% of them graduated with Excellent score of0 or above, and only 1 student graduated with Average grade. The average graduation score of all VAS students is 8.2.

7. 927 awards from district, city, national and international levels at international Math competitions, English Champion, April Olympics, TOEFL Junior, Scientific Research, Scientific and Practical Knowledge, World Scholar's Cup and talent contests… This year, VAS had 55 students in Grades 9 and 12 winning the City Award for Excellent Student at the "April Olympics" competition, and 22 participating topics in the "Scientific Research Project" organized by the HCMC Department of Education and Training with 2 projects winning the first prize.
