Choose Cambridge International Programme – choose VAS
In consideration of complications from the development of the Covid-19 global pandemic, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and Cambridge have decided to accredit the students’ online learning results. This means that thousands of parents in Ho Chi Minh City will seek a high standard of schooling for their child in the next school year. This is most significant for parents with children ready to enter the first grade or transit to the next educational level.
Sustainable development
Besides public schools, HCMC currently has 22 foreign language schools comprised of international and private schools that offer an international programme pilot. Among all of these schools,Vietnam Australia International School (VAS) is leading in terms of size and history with nearly 9.500 students from Kindergarten to 12th grade studying at 7 campuses.
Nearly 9,500 parents trusted and chose VAS for the school year 2019-2020
For more than 16 years of development, VAS has continuously maintained a steady growth in facilities, enrollment and student learning outcomes. In response to the high trust of parents, during the three years from 2016 to 2018, VAS expanded and opened three new campuses, with a capacity of more than 2.000 students for each campus to satisfy the needs of students living in Go Vap, District 2, District 7 and nearby areas.
To balance between the school’s size and quality, from the academic year 2019-2020, VAS emphasized developing the facilities, programmes, and quality of teaching. Responsibility to society and the environment became the primary focus and were evident by the students’ outstanding academic acheivements in both MOET and Cambridge programmes, the community and environmental projects that bring positive results such as the “VAS Green Day Run” fundraiser for planting trees in Can Gio, the “Light up your knowledge” project, and the “Be the VAS Greeneration” initiative.
Quality and history are criteria that parents should consider when choosing a school
Diverse learning pathways
For academics, VAS is a pioneer bringing the Cambridge international programme into Ho Chi Minh city and is the official and strategic partner of the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) for setting up the CAIE Training and Professional Development Centre in Vietnam.
In recent years, VAS has provided three diverse and flexible-to-transit learning pathways to serve the needs and ability of each students as well as the orientation of families. Students can start with the CEP pathway (MOET combined with the Cambridge English programme) before gaining enough English language capacity to transfer to the CAP pathway (MOET combined with the Cambridge secondary education programme).
VAS learning pathways are diverse and flexible, meeting the needs and capabilities of students
From the school year 2020-2021, VAS is offering a new study pathway for Secondary education – the Cambridge Academic Programme International. This programme helps students reduce pressures by allowing students to study some subjects in the MOET programme in Vietnamese while others are integrated into the Cambridge programme and taught entirely in English. Therefore, students can still attend the exams and obtain degrees and cerficifates of the Cambridge AS and A Level programme and the National Secondary programme after completing grade 12.
Outstanding learning outcomes
The Cambridge secondary education programme is taught in more than 10,000 schools in 160 nations and territories around the globe. There are 18 schools in HCMC accredited to belong to Cambridge schools, of which eight are part of VAS. Other schools include the British Council and international schools such as BIS, Horizon, Renaissance, Saigon Star, and Vinschool. Considering the study programmes, learning environment, students’ outcome quality and the tuition fees, VAS is still the top choice for parents in HCMC with more than 2.300 new students enrolled each year.
The standard programme at VAS that combines extracurricular activities, core values, career counseling and a variety of community projects in a dynamic environment that helps students cultivate qualities and talents, skills, and community responsibility. This is also an overwhelming advantage that helps students gain confidence when applying and seeking scholarships from prestigious universities and colleges in the world.
VAS students will cultivate quality, talent, responsibility to the community in addition to academic knowledge
In fact, each year VAS has at least 90% of grade 12 admitted and many have won prestigious scholarships to influential schools in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Switzerland, and Japan. In particular, this February, nine grade-12 students from our Ba Thang Hai campus in HCMC won scholarships early in the UK, the US and the Netherlands immediately after the first semester of the school year. Many of them were awarded scholarships of very high value (nearly VND2 billion) and became qualified for three or four colleges at the same time.
