VAS students won 96 high value prizes at the SASMO and the HCMC Olympiad April
Last May, VAS was delighted to receive the results of 46 VAS students who excellently won 10 Gold Medals, 20 Silver Medals and 16 Bronze Medals in the HCMC Olympiad April for Secondary students organized by the HCMC Department of Education and Training. This number is double the number of awards that VAS students won in the same competition in 2018-2019 school year, which was 24 Medals (the competition were not held in 2019-2020 school year because of Covid-19).
The competition was took place on April 17th with more than 9,000 students in HCMC competing in 8 subjects, including: Mathematics, Literature, English, Natural Science, Chemistry, Physics, Biology and History - Geography. This competition challenges students on the ability to apply their knowledge in solving real problems, thereby urging them to refresh their learning styles and methods.
By June, VAS continued to receive the impressive results of 31 primary school students and 19 secondary school students from grades 6-9 winning the high value prizes at the Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad 2021 (SASMO) - one of the biggest Math competitions in Asia. This is an intellectual competition for students from grades 2-10 who love Mathematics and want to challenge themselves in the international arena. Each year, the competition attracts more than 30,000 contestants from 30 Asian countries such as Korea, Singapore, Japan, China, India, Vietnam...
At this year's SASMO, VASers in primary school excellently won a total of 31 awards, including 9 Gold medals, 6 Silver medals, 10 Bronze medals and 6 Honorable mention awards. In secondary school, students won 19 awards, including 1 Gold medal, 3 Silver medals, 7 Bronze medals and 8 Honorable mention awards.
At VAS, in order to increase students’ interest and passion in both academic and extracurricular subjects, VAS always creates favorable conditions for them to challenge themselves in competitions in many levels, from school level, district level, city level to international level. This is an opportunity for them to acquire knowledge and gain practical experience to get ready for the bigger competitions in the future.
