More than 90 young orators competed in the final round of the English Speaking Contest 2021

Although not being able to give speeches on stage and have face-to-face group discussions like previous years; VASers still successfully made their speech come alive and memorable, thanks to their critical thinking and persuasive debating skills in English, as well as their familiarity in using Microsoft Teams through many online learning periods with teachers.

 

Speaking to the contestants before starting the competition, Mr. Marcel van Miert – VAS Executive Chairman said: “In the modern time, debating became a really big thing. This was based around the idea that we could argue and discuss with each other about things without losing temper and always being polite. I wish you good luck. May the best team win, and may you stay polite!”.
