Let’s be excited and moved by the VAS Student Movie Festival 2017

It is time for the return of the VAS Student Movie Festival 2017 which, in the past, has brought audiences an exciting, vibrant and professional atmosphere. The enthusiasm of students is reflected through their expressions and the "catwalk" costumes of the film crews. Early in the morning, they gathered at Garden Hills campus and decorated the auditorium with many lively posters.

The exciting atmosphere of the Movie festival

When students saw their friends as characters in the movies, using cinematic language to narrate their tales, their surprise and delight were clearly evident. As the footage was shown, many emotions could be seen on the students’ faces, such as humor, passion and pride.

Funny behind-the-scene stories

This year the festival of "Adapted screenplay from a Literary Work" received 12 entries from 5 campuses. Each of the adapted screenplays, such as "Luc Van Tien" by Nguyen Dinh Chieu, "Ballons to the sky" by Nguyen Nhat Anh, "Ghost coin", "Spirit of Exercise" by Nguyen Cong Hoan and "Folk jokes", has its own color and distinct characteristics. The audiences were very interested in the humor of the character Huyện Hinh in the movie "Ghost coin", the natural acting of Thuong in "Ballons to the sky" and the inner emotions of a baby named Thu in “The ivory comb".

The Young Filmmakers Shine

The film “The ivory comb” was the biggest surprise of the festival with the cinematic footage, emotional screenplay and synchronized acting of the characters. The film brought the Garden Hills campus Best Actress Award, Best Director Award, Best Cinematography Award and Best Soundtrack Award.

Deeply understanding a literary work is one of the fundamental outcomes of learning Literature in high school. And one of the best ways for the students to deepen their understanding is through writing their own adaptations, directing, filming, acting, preparing props, dressing up, and choosing soundtracks. This is also the ultimate goal of the project and the spirit of learning at VAS.
