A term with bountiful achievements of VAS students in Cambridge international exams

A solid foundation from the early stages of life

Cambridge education programme has been taught by Vietnam Australia International School (VAS) for almost 10 years. The programme is delivered to students from Grade 1 to Grade 12 by more than 500 Vietnamese and foreign teachers each year. The curriculum and teaching methods are identical with those used by all Cambridge schools in the world, and the results of students are evaluated and recognized by the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE).

In the school year 2020-2021, although the exam revision and tests took place during the Covid-19 social distancing, VAS students still had a bountiful season in all exams from Checkpoint Primary to AS and A Level. In the Primary Checkpoint exam, Grade 5 students achieved higher results in all 3 subjects (English, Math, Science) than in 2019 and 2020, of which the average Math score was 5.2 (perfect score), 1.4 points higher than the world average. 8^th Graders also achieved great scores in the Secondary Checkpoint, with the scores in Math and English as a first language higher than the world average from 0.9 to 1.3 points.

In the IGCSE exam, 85% of the 10th grade students achieved Fair to Excellent scores in all subjects, of which 47% achieved Absolute scores. In the whole VAS system, 38 students achieved the absolute scores of A-A* in all subjects, which created the highest results in VAS history of the IGCSE examination.

The power of the Cambridge International Baccalaureate certificate

The results achieved in the AS and A Level exams are considered as a "passport" that brings students closer to the scholarships and the prestigious universities around the world. This school year, VAS had 69% of Grade 11 students scoring Fair to Excellent in the AS Level exam. This number has increased to 82% in Grade 12 A Level exam, in which 50% of students achieved absolute scores. The percentage of VAS students achieving Good to Excellent (B-A*) grades in Business, Math and Further Math was outstanding, at 84%, 90% and 100%, respectively.

Especially, Tran Khanh Linh, a student of class 12B6, Ba Thang Hai campus excellently won 4 A-A* points in all 4 subjects including Math, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the A Level exam. Last June, Khanh Linh also won 3 scholarships to study abroad at 3 prestigious universities in the US (Depauw University, Beloit College and New York University) with a total value of nearly 13 billion VND for 4 years.

Advantages of VAS in both training programs

The high school graduation exam in 2021 took place amid the outbreak of the pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City. Because of this, the graduation results of students this year were combined from their test scores and their average grade in the school year, as instructed by the HCMC Department of Education and Training. VAS had 248 Grade 12 students taking the exam with 99.6% of them ranked Good or better, 62% of them ranked Excellent, and the average graduation scores of all VAS students was 8.2. In addition, VAS students also achieved more than 800 awards from district, city, national and international levels at international Math competitions, English Champion, April Olympics, TOEFL Junior, Scientific research…

VAS is simultaneously offering 3 learning pathways including Cambridge English programme, Cambridge Academic Programme (Bilingual) and Cambridge Academic Programme International (Fully integrated). The whole system has nearly 1,000 experienced and enthusiastic Vietnamese and foreign teachers, of which 15% have a Master's degree or higher. This is also the outstanding advantage of VAS, besides the standardized education programme and advanced facilities, helping students master their knowledge, skills and achieve excellent results.

This year, VAS has twelve 12th graders who won scholarships at 28 leading universities in the US, Australia, Canada, Switzerland... with a total value of more than 60 billion VND. Especially, Can Vu Binh Minh, a 12th grader from Sunrise campus was approved at 14 over 15 universities in the US that he applied to, and was granted scholarships by 10 of them with a total value of 19,6 billion for 4 years.
