Scholarship hunters – from VAS to the world

The first position in the well-rounded student rankings this time will belong to no one else but Tran Bach Duong – the golden girl in the scholarship hunters’ community from class 12B4 BTH campus. By expressing her curiosity, studious spirit and the dare to dream big, Duong excellently attained valuable scholarships from 5 of the top 100 universities in the USA. The total value of scholarships she received adds up to more than 13 billion VND: 3.2 billion VND from Case Western Reserve University (#40 NU); 1.5 billion VND from Miami University (#91 NU); 3.5 billion VND from Augustana College (#92 NLAC); 1.5 billion VND from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities (#70 NU) and 3.7 billion VND from Lawrence University (#58 NLAC).

The second “master” that this ranking cannot help but mention is our future computer programmer – Ngo Duc Huy, class 12B4 BTH campus. Huy also got accepted and offered scholarships with a total value up to more than 4 billion VND by 3 top US universities: University of Delaware (#91 NU), University of Massachusetts – Amherst (#64 NU) and University of Illinois (#132 NU).

The passion for Chemistry was an excellent motive for Vo Tran Bao Ngoc – a girl from class 12B4 BTH campus – tried her best in the race of scholarship hunters to obtain an offer from universities in the USA. “Practice makes perfect” is the most suitable idiom to depict exactly Ngoc’s situation. After diligently studying for lots of international qualifications and elaborately writing tons of essay, Ngoc delightfully received the acceptance letters from University of California – San Diego (#37 NU) along with a scholarship offer of 1.7 billion VND from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (#64 NU). Ngoc decided to pursue the major of Chemical Engineering at the University of California – San Diego in the next school year.

Thanks to the determined and consistent spirit, Nguyen Khai Minh explicitly conveyed his continuous efforts in both studying and participating in social activities in order to convince the admissions council of University of Kansas (#130 NU) in the USA to offer him a scholarship of 41,300 USD. Minh has cultivated his passion for Medicine since his early years and always seeks opportunities to challenge himself in this field as a volunteer. Therefore, this young student of class 12B5 BTH campus chose to study Medical Biology in the university that offered him the scholarship.

The USA is not the only destination of VASers this year. Song Hy, Minh Anh and Hai Yen – the trio from 12B4 BTH campus – persuaded UK universities to provide them several scholarships with the total value of nearly 4 billion VND including the University of Loughborough (#42 UK), Queen Mary University of London (#12 UK), University of Exeter (#24 UK) and Cass Business School – University of London (#52 global). Moreover, they all acquired an acceptance letter from University College London and King’s College London – 2 prestigious universities in the UK and top-ranked universities in the world with ranking #10 and #31, respectively.

A student from class 12B4 BTH campus – Huynh Quang Trung always strives to understand thoroughly and apply a unique mindset, so he brought the topic into his application essay. That essay helped Trung to stand out from thousands of candidates and achieve two scholarships of more than 2.5 billion VND offered by two top universities in the USA – Michigan State University (#84 NU) and Arizona State University (#117 NU). After that, Trung also made an attempt to apply to some universities in the Netherlands and luckily got accepted to the University of Amsterdam – a top university in the country of windmills and ranked #61 globally.

Nam Son and Minh Quan are also two victorious warriors in the scholarship hunters’ arena. Nam son, who always dignifies the importance of creativity, successfully gained more than 6,000 USD scholarship from 2 universities in the country of windmills: Maastricht University (#10 global young universities) and Erasmus University Rotterdam (#69 global). Furthermore, Minh Quan – the skillful chess player who always represents VAS in district and city level chess competitions – exceptionally convinced Abertay University (#104 UK) to offer him a scholarship of 11,400 GBP for 4 years.

Being three years younger than the senior students does not prove to be any obstacles for the grade 9 students Thuc Anh, Thy Khanh and Phuoc Tri since they also acquired more than 4 billion VND scholarship awards from high schools in the USA and South Korea. Meanwhile, Phuoc Tri also possesses a list of outstanding achievement that blows our minds with two gold medals and one silver medal at International Mathematics competitions in Singapore and the US.
