Summary of VAS’s student achievements, school year 2020-2021
Dear Parents,
It is our honor to present to you the summary of the Achievements of VAS students in school year 2020-2021.
A. CAMBRIDGE PROGRAMME
I. Cambridge English Program (CEP): Grades 2-8
621 students, accounting for 54% of the total student population from grade 1 to grade 8, achieved high scores of A-A* in English.
II. Cambridge Academic Programme (CAP): Grades 1-8
1,158 students, accounting for 24.4% of the total student population from grade 1 to grade 8, achieved 3 A-A* in English, Mathematics and Science.
III. Cambridge Academic Programme International (CAPI)
- In Grade 9 CAPI, 50 students, accounting for 56% of the total student population achieved 4 A-A* in the IGCSE programme.
- In Grade 11 CAPI, 32 students, accounting for 49% of the total student population achieved 3 A in the AS programme.
IV. Cambridge Primary Checkpoint and Secondary Checkpoint
Due to impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint and Secondary Checkpoint exams for the School Year 2019-2020 were moved to November 2020 instead of April 2020 like previous school years. Although the exam time was not favorable because students had to study the education programme of the new School Year 2020-2021 and prepare for the exams, they achieved very proud results.
- In the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint exam, there were 172 students, accounting for 42% of students taking the exam, scoring from Good to Excellent for all 3 subjects of Math, English and Science, of which 34 students achieved perfect scores of 5.0 – 6.0.
- In the Cambridge Secondary Checkpoint exam, there were 196 students, accounting for 75% of the students taking the exam, scoring from Good to Excellent for all 3 subjects of Math, English and Science, of which 37 students achieved perfect scores of 5.0 – 6.0.
V. IELTS Examination results
54% of Grades 11 and 12 students took part in the IELTS exams this year and achieved IELTS band of 6.0 and above, of which:
- 35% students achieved IELTS band of 6.5 and above
- 31 students achieved IELST band 7.0,
- 12 students achieved IELTS band of 7.5; and
- 6 students got IELTS band of 8.0 and above.
VI. Scholarship from universities
The list of VAS students granted scholarships by high schools and universities around the world as of 24 May 2021 is as following:
Especially, Student Can Vu Binh Minh from Sunrise campus has successfully been admitted to 14 out of 15 American universities that she applied to, including prestigious universities such as New York University (NYU), Stevens Institute of Technology, Boston University. In which, 9 schools gave him scholarships with a total value of USD 668,000 for 4 years.

B. MOET PROGRAMME
This year, like the Cambridge Programme, despite the difficulties as the consequences of the COVID-19 outbreak, VAS teachers and students achieved breakthrough outcomes. We are proud to present:
- 100% of 5th graders successfully completed the primary and 100% of 9th graders met the criteria for graduating junior high school.
- 100% of senior high school students (12th graders) are eligible to sit the High School Graduation examinations and to be eligible for university admission.
- 100% primary students and 99,9% junior high school students progress to the next grade level.
- 100% of students achieved Good – Excellent Rank in behavior and conduct.
Many students got high achievements in competitions such as International Math, English Champion, English Olympic, Violympic for Math and Physics on Internet, TOEFL Junior, Science Research, Practical Science Knowledge, World Scholar’s Cup and other talent competitions organized by Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training and Ministry of Education and Training, including:

Below are some outstanding achievements by VAS students throughout the school year 2019-2020:
- 22 projects to take part in “Science Research Projects” organized by Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, 13 projects got the school awards and 2 projects got the city awards which are first prizes.
- 55 students received Outstanding Student Award at City level for April Olympic Competition and the Competition for Grade 9 and Grade 12 excellent students.
- 77 medals of district level; 14 medals of city level in “Phu Dong Sports Festival” organized by DOET of HCMC.
