Paying homage to a heroic land – Burning incenses at Ben Duoc Monument
After arriving at the Cu Chi Tunnels, students of Vietnam Australia International School (VAS) began to listen to a presentation on the resistance war illustrated by a documentary. After that the students went into the tunnels to experience how the soldiers used to live in there. On their way in the tunnels, the students also saw Hoang Cam smokeless ovens and enjoyed boiled cassavas with salt-and-sesames, a familiar dish of soldiers in wartime.
After having lunch at the Ben Duoc Monument, VAS students went into the temples to burn incenses in memory of the war heroes. The students got emotional when they thought of the sacrifices the heroes made for the country. The trip came to an end offering the students a great lesson of history and a day of great fun with the field trip.
