DESIGN TECHNOLOGY COORDINATOR

The Coordinator for Design Technology is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive and innovative design thinking program at our newly built design spaces. This position requires an individual with experience in design technology, material science, robotics, and project design who can effectively integrate these disciplines into the school's curriculum. The Coordinator will collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to develop and implement a cross curricular program that supports the school's educational goals while fostering creativity, innovation, and critical thinking skills.
I. Job Description
Roles that the Design Technology Coordinator includes but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement a design thinking curriculum and programs that align with the school's academic goals and objectives.
- Work with teachers and staff to integrate design thinking principles into their classrooms and curriculum.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with outside organizations, such as businesses and community groups, to provide students with opportunities to engage in real-world design challenges.
- Train and support other teachers in the machinery and safety aspects of the lab so that many teachers can use the space.
- Organize and facilitate design thinking workshops, events, and competitions for students, teachers, and staff.
- Develop and maintain the design thinking center's online presence, including managing the center's website and social media accounts.
- Develop and manage the design thinking center's budget, including overseeing the purchase of equipment, supplies, and materials.
- Collaborate with other schools and organizations to share best practices and resources related to design thinking education.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the design thinking center's programs and make recommendations for improvement.
- Maintain and enforce the use of relevant PPE within the space.
Teaching: This post includes either a fixed teaching load or a cover teaching load of up to 40% of the total working load as assigned and scheduled by the Academic Operations Team.
II. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in education, design technology, or a related field.
- Post Graduate Teaching Qualification.
- Relevant Health and Safety qualifications
- Experience in design thinking methodology and tools.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, including students, teachers, staff, and external partners.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies and their application in education.
